Got Questions?

We require a comprehensive patient work up, including physical exam, patient history, and in most cases, bloodwork, to ensure that your pet is a healthy candidate for anesthesia. We use the most up to date surgical and anesthetic protocols, including close monitoring of patient vitals such as blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature, and ECG.

At Plumtrees Animal Hospital, we take care of our own.  We diagnose, treat, and hospitalize patients who are sick or critical, and offer personalized, overnight nursing care when necessary.  This means that we can effectively diagnose and manage your sick cat or dog, conveniently under one roof, without the need for  back and forth travel.

If your pet is undergoing  treatment for a diagnosed medical condition by one of our doctors, we make ourselves available after hours should you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s health needs.  This means less stress, less uncertainty, and fewer after hours emergency room visits for you and your pet.

An internship is a rigorous post doctorate program that a veterinary graduate must be accepted into.  Internships provide advanced training to veterinarians who are interested in furthering their knowledge and skill by allowing them to work closely with specialists in the fields of emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, cardiology and neurology.  Drs. Baff, Kotwal, and Goldstein have each completed highy coveted internship programs, making Plumtrees Animal Hospital the only general practice in the Greater Danbury area to have only internship trained doctors.

We will ask that you do not give your pet food or water after midnight prior to the procedure, and no breakfast the morning of the procedure.  Your pet will be scheduled for an admission time the morning of the procedure, typically between 8:00 and 9:00am.  Once the procedure is completed, you will receive a phone call to discuss the details of the procedure, and a discharge time will be scheduled, typically after 5:00pm.  Most often, pets undergoing routine procedures will be discharged the same day (i.e. out patient).

Pet Insurance is an insurance plan that helps to alleviate the financial burden if your pet is ill or injured.

We facilitate all paperwork and claims to make the insurance reimbursement process as seamless and stress free as possible.  We work closely with all insurance carriers and plans.

We practice multimodal pain management to ensure that your pet is comfortable before, during, and after his or her procedure.

A veterinary specialist is a veterinarian who has completed a rigorous educational and practical training program in a specialty field of veterinary medicine.   Many specialists have completed up to 5 years of additional training after graduating from veterinary school.  We offer our  patients quick access to our own group of specialists in the fields of internal medicine, critical care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and cardiology.

Our doctors have specialty training in emergency medicine, with experience in the stabilization and treatment of most serious emergencies.
