Quality, Affordable Veterinary Services with Tender Loving Care

Wellness Exams
Annual exams are important in monitoring the health status of your animal companion, and can often allow us to manage a medical condition in its early stages before it becomes life threatening. Changes in your pet's behavior, elimination habits, appetite or activity level may be clues that something is wrong. Our hospital is able to perform in house blood and urine tests, as well as imaging (radiographs and ultrasound) studies, often getting results within minutes. FeLV/FIV tests (for cats), Heartworm and Lyme tests (for dogs), and fecal parasite checks should be a part of your pet's annual wellness check up. We are also pleased to offer international health certificates for those world travelers!

When we examine your pet we will discuss steps you can take each month to help reduce the chances of your pet contracting fleas, ticks, and heartworms. Monthly preventive care can greatly reduce the chances of your cat or dog contracting a vector born disease such as heartworm, lyme, anaplasma, tapeworm or bartonella.

Vaccinations
Vaccinations are essential to your pet's overall health. Every pet is treated as an individual, and a vaccination plan is tailored to your pet's particular needs. Please tell us about your pet and we will be happy to formulate a vaccination program together. Vaccinations also give us an opportunity to examine your pet and to determine his or her overall health status.

As a substitute for vaccines, we offer blood titers. Titers are simple blood tests which determine whether or not an animal should have a particular vaccine administered. This is especially useful for animals that have a history of an adverse reaction to vaccines.

Medicine
Plumtrees Animal Hospital is equipped to manage the most complicated of medical conditions, including but not limited to kidney and liver disease, seizures, anemia, skin disease, arthritis and neck/back pain. We have the capability of consulting and working with specialists in the areas of medicine and surgery when necessary. We offer many prescription foods, which are invaluable in managing many chronic health problems, including but not limited to obesity, kidney disease, and skin disease.

Surgery
We offer routine elective procedures including spays and neuters, as well as more involved surgical procedures, such as orthopedic surgery. We also have the ability to consult with a board certified veterinary surgeon when necessary. We are proud to offer laser surgery to our surgical patients. Research shows that carbon dioxide laser technology results in less bleeding and swelling, and faster recovery time post-operatively. All surgical patients have advanced monitoring during their procedure including blood pressure, pulse oximetry, respiratory monitoring, heart rate, temperature and EKG. We make every effort to make sure that our surgical patients are comfortable before, during and after their procedure, catering a pain medication protocol to their specific needs.

Medical Boarding and Bathing
We typically do not offer boarding for cats and dogs. We do offer medical bathing and grooming for your pet. Medical bathing has the potential to help those patients suffering from allergies (seasonal or year round), certain skin infections, and skin mites, such as scabies and demodex.

Dental care
Routine dental care is an important part of your pet's overall well-being. Dental exams, cleanings, and out-patient oral health regimens can be catered to your pet's specific needs. These steps can greatly increase his or her quality of life, and reduce the chances of future health problems.

Microchipping
Microchipping is a quick and easy procedure in which a small microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) is implanted under your pet's skin (between the shoulder blades). Your pet's information is then registered in a national database. Should your pet become lost, this technology will increase the likelihood of a happy reunion.
